Nails play a vital role in beauty. Though it is the small part, it should be given due care in order to get the perfect beauty. Imagine a girl with beautiful face, wearing up to date clothes but with neglected nails! That must be horrible! In beauty every small part of your body counts, so does your nails. Here are some tips to make your nails healthy and look beautiful.

• Trim your nails on time. Very long nails do not look smart so consider its length.

• To protect your nails, use rubber gloves even while doing house hold jobs like washing dishes, clothes, and   other cleaning purposes.

• Manicure and Pedicure are the best options for nail care.

Nutrition for healthy nails

  As the other body parts need balanced diet to grow and to remain healthy, our nails also need balanced diet for strength and health.

• Vitamin A: It is an essential vitamin for vision, reproduction and tissue regeneration. It is also responsible for healthy skin, hair and tissues. It can be obtained from dark green and yellow vegetables and yellow fruits. Broccoli, turnip, carrot etc. are the main sources of vitamin A.

• Vitamin B12: The lack of this vitamin causes excessive dryness and darkening of the nails. Vitamin B12 can be found in animal source like liver and kidneys, chicken, milk and milk products.


• Vitamin D: The lack of vitamin D causes dryness. It is the only vitamin that our body can manufacture in the presence of sunlight, so the sunlight is also vital but avoid the sun between 11-4; it may damage your skin.

• Protein: Protein is the body building nutrient. Lack of protein leads to white nail beds. Protein can be found in foods like meat, milk, egg, cheese, legumes, beans etc.

• Calcium and phosphorus: Helps in maintaining homeostasis and to make the nails stronger, so they won’t break out easily. Calcium is found in dairy products, broccoli, cabbage, tofu sardines and salmon.

• Iron: Lack of iron leads to iron-deficiency anemia which causes the nails to look paler, thin and brittle. Iron can be found on foods like spinach, green leafy vegetables, fruits, poultry, milk and meat.

• While it comes to nail polish, choose the color that flatters your skin complexion and also the dress you are wearing.

• Do not put a single thick coat, instead use a thin layer and let it to dry.

• For the long lasting nail polish, use double or triple coats but the polish must dry out before applying the next coat.

• You can use artificial nails or acrylic nails if you don’t have long nails. Artificial nails are available in different designs and lengths.
